The economic might of Japan is mainly based upon its industry. Vehicles are one of the most well-known production lines of Japan. In 1995, Japan manufactured about 10.2 mln cars, autobuses and trucks – more than any other country did.
A lot of cars are assembled by robots. These robots are complex mechanisms designed to fulfill particular tasks. They are good in managing routine work and give people an opportunity to engage in more interesting and complicated activities.
Almost half of the cars produced in Japan go for export. Cars manufactured by Japanese companies are assembled and used all over the world. Many of them are now produced at factories situated abroad. Moreover, cars are not the only mode of transport exported by Japan. Japan also manufactures autobuses, trucks, ships and other means of transport.
Japan is famous for perfect quality of electrical equipment and high powers of the electronic industry. The most popular types of products comprise stereo systems, radio sets, TV sets, video recorders, photo cameras, and computers. Yet another important item of Japanese export is precision electronic devices used in manufacturing in many countries of the world. Japan is the world leader in the communication systems. A Tokyo district Akihabara known as the City of Electronics is a place where you are certain to come across a store selling electronic equipment wherever you look.
Japan also produces and exports other kinds of machinery, as well as metals, metal and chemical products. Manufacturing is the foundation of economic power of Japan.
Having learnt from the past, Japan is now searching for new ways to decrease the level of industrial pollution. All branches of industry are developing the most up-to-date environmental protection technologies.
